THETFORD MINES (Quebec) – The Hon. Christian Paradis, member of Parliament for Mégantic--L'Érable and Secretary of State (Agriculture), is pleased to announce that he will recognize individuals in Mégantic—L’Érable who have made outstanding contributions to the region. The individuals who are to be honoured may have made contributions to social or economic life, to improve the quality of life in our region, or to the development of the region.

Mr. Paradis will be awarding medals to these individuals at a series of public events.

“Too often, the enormous work done by volunteers or promoters who care deeply about the welfare of our region is not known to the public. Gratitude is certainly a reward that these people are entitled to,” Mr. Paradis said.

Mr. Paradis explained that he had made this decision after a number of people in the riding told him how much they had appreciated it when his Conservative predecessor, the Hon. Marcel Masse, initiated these awards.

The federal electoral district of Mégantic-L'Érable has a population of 87,078 and includes 48 municipalities in three regional county municipalities.
