Princeville, Quebec – The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, today announced the awarding of $159,700 in funding to two local enterprises. An amount of $82,500 in repayable funding has been awarded to Excellence Composites Inc. for the acquisition of a building and state-of-the-art equipment. A second contribution of $77,200 in non-repayable funding has been awarded to the firm Jamotech Inc. for equipment acquisition.

Excellence Composites Inc.

Founded in 2002, this dynamic SME specializes in manufacturing products made with composite materials for various markets, including the agriculture, sanitation, foodservice and transportation sectors. In addition to creating six new jobs, this project is aimed at ensuring the growth of Excellence Composites Inc. and improving its productivity. The acquisition of leading-edge equipment, in particular robots, will enable the firm to automate its manufacturing process while monitoring the quality of the materials used. As well, the new building will provide sufficient space to produce large-scale pieces.

Jamotech Inc.

Established in 2007, Jamotech Inc. manufactures packing crates and handling pallets. Looking to shift into hardwood processing for the export market, the firm needed to acquire the equipment that would permit it to pursue this goal. The contribution from Canada Economic Development helped the firm purchase an automatic stapler, a breakdown line, a dust exhaust system and a horizontal band saw. This project will also create six new jobs and is expected to boost export sales up to 85% over the coming year.

”To create a stronger economy for communities in difficulty, the Government of Canada is committed to supporting the growth and development of firms which, like Excellence Composites Inc. and Jamotech Inc., are taking steps to improve their productivity. I am delighted that these two projects will lead to the creation of 12 new jobs in the region,” explained Minister Paradis.

These contributions have been awarded through Canada Economic Development’s Community Economic Diversification Initiative – Vitality, a measure aimed at supporting slow-growth communities, encouraging diversification of the local economic base and reducing reliance on single-industry economies.
